Freelance Shopify Plus developer in Amsterdam
I am Marin Gerov, an independent Shopify and Shopify Plus developer based in Amsterdam. I work with a small number of premium, design-led brands: watches, cars, crafts and other objects made with care. Most of my work arrives through referrals, and most of it is on stores that already sell well and want the storefront to match the product.
Quality over volume. A few engagements at a time, so each gets the attention it needs. I prefer to understand how a store is used, which systems write to it and where revenue leaks before changing anything, and then to ship in small, safe steps the store can keep selling through.
Services
What I do
- 01
Conversion rebuilds
Product pages, navigation, cart and purchase flow, rebuilt for buyers who decide fast and expect the store to feel as considered as the product.
- 02
Shopify Plus architecture
Re-architecting setups that have grown messy: app consolidation, theme and data clean-up, and revenue data the team can trust. Read more
- 03
Checkout and customer account extensions
Checkout UI extensions, customer account extensions and Shopify Functions that replace checkout.liquid customisations and keep working across API versions.
- 04
Product data and integrations
ERP and PIM syncs, metafields, Markets and B2B pricing. Finding out which system writes to a field before anyone changes the theme.
- 05
Performance
Mobile speed as a conversion lever: Core Web Vitals, theme weight and third-party scripts, measured before and after.
Process
How an engagement runs
- 01
Teardown
A free 30-minute look at the store together. Where revenue is most likely leaking, in plain terms.
- 02
Diagnostic
A short, decision-focused review: how the store is used, what writes to it, and a measurement baseline. No long reports.
- 03
Plan
A prioritised list, highest leverage first, with the fact that makes each change safe written next to it.
- 04
Build
Small, shippable steps. The store keeps selling throughout, and nothing goes live without a way to check it worked.
- 05
Measure
Conversion rate, revenue per visitor, speed and the clarity of the revenue data, compared with the baseline.
Pricing
How the work is priced
PLACEHOLDER: pricing and engagement model to be confirmed before publishing. No price is listed until then.
FAQ
Questions brands ask before we start
- Are you a freelancer or an agency?
- Independent. One developer, based in Amsterdam, who does the work personally and stays your single point of contact from the first call to the last deploy.
- Which brands are a good fit?
- Premium, design-led brands: watches, cars and automotive, crafts and made objects, design-led lifestyle products. Usually stores that already have demand and want the storefront to match the care that went into the product.
- Do you work with brands outside the Netherlands?
- Yes. I am based in Amsterdam and work in the Europe/Amsterdam timezone, with brands across the Netherlands, the rest of Europe and further afield. Most work happens remotely, with in-person sessions in Amsterdam when useful.
- Do you only work on Shopify Plus?
- Shopify and Shopify Plus. Plus-specific work includes checkout extensibility, B2B, Markets and large catalogs with several systems writing to them. A standard Shopify store gets the same care.
- Will you recommend a replatform?
- Rarely. Most stores that feel broken need re-architecture, not a new platform: fewer apps, cleaner data and a theme that does less work. A replatform is the last option, not the first.
- What does the first step look like?
- A free 30-minute store teardown. We look at your product pages, navigation, checkout flow and performance together, and you leave with a short list of where revenue is most likely leaking, whether or not we work together afterwards.
- How is the work priced?
- PLACEHOLDER: pricing and engagement model to be confirmed before publishing.
